The Rearview Mirror exhibit kicked off at the Gloucester Gallery Friday, September 16, 2005, despite some rare (for this year, anyway) gloomy, wet weather that rolled in at the last minute. Highlighted by the appearance of faces from the past, the Arteast vernissage had the feel of a birthday party; and why not? It's the 15th anniversary of Arteast.

Live music by Lois Siegel and friends kept the warmth indoors while the truly hardy and brave souls who set up their easels and tables outside rode out the blustery weather well into the evening. Suzanne Beaulieu's reception committee put together a beautiful food table that was dressed up by Susan Pitt's floral arrangements. Susan Pitt, the featured speaker, took us on a trip down memory lane with her history of Arteast.

Money was raised for Arteast by the sale of recycled items members creatively modified at the Fun Art table. If you weren't there to see some of these objects, you missed another example of how ridiculously talented and resourceful Arteast members are.

The artists who set up outside to demonstrate their creative process were good sports, if anything. It's always interesting and informative to see how other artists practise their craft. Susan Ashbrook did a great job organizing the outdoor events.

Many thanks go out to all of the volunteers who helped put all of the little pieces together to come up with another special display of Arteast pride, passion and creativity.
