March 2005 signalled the end of the Gloucester Gallery being housed in Place d'Orléans Shopping Centre and the beginning of the gallery's existence at 255 Centrum Blvd. in Orléans. So what could Arteast do with this new situation? Well ... how about a double show?

As I've been hearing in many situations lately: "When one door closes, another one opens." Such is the case with the Galerie Gloucester Gallery (GGG).

With the impeccably timed "Rites of Spring" exhibit kicking off the new year for Arteast members, the GGG closes at one location and re-opens in a new one. Not only is there no "downtime" between exhibitions at the old and new spaces, the entire "Rites" show straddles both locations simultaneously; one last hurrah and a hip-hip hooray for the new kid on the block.

With the unheard-of option of having TWO vernissages for one show, most people opted to take in the event at the new gallery at 255 Centrum Blvd in Orléans. With councillor Herb Kreling in attendance to help with the ribbon-cutting, the March 30 vernissage was a resounding success. Kudos are due to the City of Ottawa staff and members of Arteast and Arts Ottawa East for putting all of the little pieces together to come up with a fantastic opening for our New GGG.
