Focusing on light, in its various forms, has given me more enjoyment and challenge than many forms of entertainment. And, as each moment is unique, the opportunities are endless!

It's not about creating "pretty pictures". It's about capturing inspirational moments into which we can retreat, at the end of the day, for quiet contemplation. Like mini-vacations, my works are meant to be restorative, without flight delays, lost luggage, jet lag, obstinate foreign officials and currency calculations before breakfast.

Watercolour's unpredictability, spontaneity and dynamic fusion, which occurs with the combination of the elements, is the lure. Everyday offers new learning opportunities for surprise and evolution. The most enjoyable yet challenging place to paint is outdoors and I enjoy local venues around the City of Ottawa, the Gatineau hills, structures aged to perfection in the countryside and vacation spots including Charlevoix, the east and west coasts of Canada and the US where water/oceans or mountains further my studies of nature.
